The Queen鈥檚 community will gather once again this week to mark Remembrance Day. With Nov. 11 falling on Sunday, the university鈥檚 service will be held in Grant Hall on Friday, Nov. 9. Doors open at 10:30 am.

Alma Mater Society President Miguel Martinez will lead the ceremony and Chaplain Kate Johnson will speak at the service. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

All faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend. The event is also open to the Kingston community.

On Friday evening a special ceremony will also be held in front of The World Remembers memorial, from 8:15-8:30 pm.

The World Remembers memorial has been hosted at Queen鈥檚 since Sept. 20. Through the powerful expression of remembrance and reconciliation, the names of all war dead killed in 1918, regardless of which nation they were fighting for, are projected onto the outer wall of Grant Hall from 8 pm to 7:30 am.

Friday evening鈥檚 event will include a reflection from Chaplain Johnson, a bugler performing The Last Post, and two minutes silence. Kevin Deluzio, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, will also speak while wreaths will be laid by Chancellor Jim Leech and Ginette Denford of Physical Plant Services. All are welcome.
