Celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day

The Queen鈥檚 and Kingston communities are set to mark National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21 with celebrations in City Park and a free evening concert by two-time JUNO Award winning band Digging Roots.
The university鈥檚 Office of Indigenous Initiatives will join other local organizations between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at City Park, where attendees can enjoy a range of activities, including a sacred fire, community drumming, food and vendors, contests and prizes, children鈥檚 games, and more.
Following the day鈥檚 events, an evening performance by Digging Roots will take place at Richardson Memorial Stadium Market Square beginning at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free of charge and attendees are asked to .
This year鈥檚 Kingston National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebrations have been organized jointly by several local groups, including Kingston Indigenous Languages Nest, City of Kingston, Queen鈥檚 University鈥檚 Office of Indigenous Initiatives, Limestone District Schoolboard, Sexual Assault Centre Kingston, Indigenous Diabetes Health Circle, the Canadian Institute of Health Research, Kewaywin Circle, and many other community collaborations.
