A newly formed action team will help Queen鈥檚 analyze and respond to its results on the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). The group鈥檚 work will enable more effective planning in support of the university鈥檚 efforts to enrich the student learning experience.

The action team includes representatives from the university and the Alma Mater Society, and its mandate formalizes work already being done to act on NSSE results.

鈥淣SSE is the university鈥檚 key measure of student engagement at the undergraduate level, and it plays an important role in helping to determine what Queen鈥檚 is doing well and where improvement is possible,鈥 says Ann Tierney, Vice-Provost and Dean of Student Affairs, who is a member of the action team. 鈥淥verall, Queen鈥檚 performs very well in NSSE and the action team鈥檚 work will help inform ways we can further enhance the student learning experience, which is a key driver of the university鈥檚 strategic framework.鈥

The NSSE survey measures students鈥 levels of engagement both inside and outside of the classroom, including interaction with professors and classmates, and the amount of time students spend in various sorts of learning activities.
