U.S. President-elect Donald Trump stated on Monday that he would impose a 25-per cent tariff on all goods imported from Canada, as well as Mexico, on his first day back in the White House.

In response, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has set up an urgent meeting with Canada鈥檚 premiers to discuss future steps for the Canada-U.S. trade relationship.

Queen鈥檚 trade expert Nicolas Lamp is available to speak to media about the following:

  • What effect would a 25 per cent jump in tariffs on Canadian goods have on the economy as well as Canada-U.S. relations.
  • What kind of approach can Canada employ in dealing with President Trump and his administration in terms of trade.
  • What can Canada expect moving ahead with the Trump administration.
