Principal Daniel Woolf today announced the reappointment of Tom Harris as vice-principal (advancement) for a second five-year term, from Jan. 1, 2015 to Dec. 31, 2019.

鈥淯nder Vice-Principal Harris鈥檚 leadership, Queen鈥檚 has taken important steps to keep its thousands of alumni engaged, and the university is on track to meet the ambitious half-billion-dollar goal of its Initiative Campaign,鈥 says Principal Woolf. 鈥淚 am extremely pleased that Vice-Principal Harris has agreed to take on another term at the helm of advancement and continue this important work.鈥

Under Dr. Harris鈥檚 tenure as vice-principal, Queen鈥檚 successfully launched its Initiative Campaign, which has so far raised more than $415 million. In 2013-14 alone, Queen鈥檚 raised $71.3 million, an all-time annual fundraising record for the university.

Vice-Principal Harris graduated from Queen鈥檚 with a BSc in 1975 and returned in 1986 as a faculty member and Queen鈥檚 National Scholar in the Department of Chemical Engineering. He was department head before serving as dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science from 1996 to 2007.

The reappointment of Vice-Principal Harris was recently approved by the university鈥檚 Board of Trustees.
