Do you know someone who has made Queen’s a better place and deserves to be recognized? Don’t let another year go by; nominate that person for a Distinguished Service Award.

Principal Daniel Woolf (left) and Chancellor David Dodge (right) present Dr. Greg Lessard (French Studies) with a Distinguished Service Award at last year's ceremonies.

The nomination period for the awards is now open and closes May 30. Queen’s employees, retirees, alumni, members of the University Council and the Board of Trustees are invited to submit nominations.

Inaugurated by the University Council in 1974, the Distinguished Service Award recognizes the outstanding contributions of up to six members of the Queen’s community each year.

Selection criteria include the breadth of the individual’s impact, the length of his or her service to the university, and demonstrated contributions above and beyond what is normally expected, relative to that person’s relationship to Queen’s. Faculty, staff, retirees, alumni and friends of the university are eligible for nomination.

Recipients of the Distinguished Service Award become honorary lifetime, non-voting members of the University Council. This year’s recipients will be recognized at the annual University Council dinner on Saturday, Nov. 8.
