The building of two new main campus residences is set to begin in early December.

Queen's has issued a letter of intent to Graham Construction and Engineering Inc. to build the residences.

“As with all of our large construction contracts, we followed a rigorous request for proposals process, and Graham was successful,” says Donna Janiec, Acting Associate Vice-Principal (Facilities). “Graham has completed similar projects in the past, and we look forward to working with them to build two new residences for our students.”

Queen’s residences are living and learning communities for students, and living on campus is a major part of the residential experience for which the university is so well-known.

The new residences will provide living accommodations for approximately 550 students, and will be located on Stuart Street and Albert Street, close to existing amenities and services. They were designed with accessibility in mind, and will include .

Founded in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in 1926, Graham has several offices throughout North America, including one in Toronto. The company has significant experience working on similar projects, and recently completed a graduate student residence at the University of Saskatchewan and was recently awarded the $47-million St. Jerome's University Campus Renewal Project in Waterloo, Ont.
