With the City of Kingston introducing changes to municipal on-street parking in the Queen鈥檚 area, the Queen鈥檚 surface parking permit will no longer be valid for on-street parking along a number of streets. The university is taking steps to minimize the impact on parking permit holders.

Queen鈥檚 surface parking passes will no longer be valid for parking on Arch, Barrie and Clergy streets as of July 1. As of October 1, the parking permit will no longer be valid for parking on Albert Street and Queen鈥檚 Crescent.

鈥淲e recognize that the City鈥檚 changes will potentially inconvenience a number of Queen鈥檚 parking permit holders, and the university will be creating additional permit spaces to ensure there continues to be sufficient Queen鈥檚 parking spaces,鈥 says Donna Stover, Parking Manager.

The City will be adding municipal pay and display parking and introduce resident and commuter on-street parking permits to the area. In response to these changes, Queen鈥檚 will convert the parking lot at the corner of Division and Union streets to permit parking as of July 1. Current plans will see the solar house currently on that lot relocated and the lot paved to provide a better facility for permit holders. In addition, the existing pay and display spaces in the parking lot behind Miller Hall will become permit parking.
