Responsibilities of a DSC Chair
- Academic liaison between students, faculty, and staff
- Organizing social events (ie. bake sales)
- USAT evaluations
Functions of a DSC Chair
- Elect a DSC Executive
- Elect students to serve on Departmental Committees and to serve on Faculty Board
- Deliver, with the coordination of the department, written course evaluations in all on-campus courses offered within the department.

Important Forms
Applications for the Certificate of Competence must be submitted to the Department of French Studies by March 31 of your graduating year.
ELIGIBILITY: students in a FREN degree plan are not eligible for the Certificate of Competence. Furthermore, certain degree plans from LLCU may not be eligible for the certificate if FREN courses have been used to fill plan requirements at the 200-300 level. Please contact francais@queensu.ca if you have questions regarding this.
NOTE: this is not a Senate-approved Certificate Program and therefore will be noted as an Academic Milestone on the transcript.

The Sir Wilfrid Laurier Memorial Prize

ELIGIBILITY: The Department of French Studies invites graduating students enrolled in French classes to apply for this prize.
To honour the memory of the late Sir Wilfrid Laurier, this scholarship is awarded by the Ontario Women鈥檚 Liberal Association for proficiency in French conversation. The award is given by recommendation of the Department of French Studies to a Canadian student (by birth or naturalization) who is enrolled in French classes and whose native tongue is not French.
