Adonay Guerrero is a Mexican-Canadian filmmaker, screenwriter, and videographer, born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Guerrero holds a Master鈥檚 degree in Film Production from York University where he developed his thesis project Hidden Gods. During his time at York University he was awarded with a Joseph-Armand Bombardier CGS Program Master's Scholarships given by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). He has a BA in Audio-Visual Arts from Universidad de Guadalajara.
Guerrero has won various grants from Mexican institutions. Some of his works have been screened in film festivals such as San Diego Comic Con International Independent Film Festival, Edmonton International Film Festival, Film+Media Arts Festival, M膩oriland Film Festival, and Diaspora International Film Festival.
Besides fiction films he has produced documentaries (Making Sones and Memories) and has been editor of some documentary projects. His most recent collaboration work Women Building Peace in Africa was awarded best documentary at the Silverwave Film Festival 2016. He also edited episodes of the TV series Battle Scars, about Canadian Military in times of peace and war.
Guerrero recently was awarded a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts to complete his short film Distant Altars.
