Statement on Student Poverty
The Queen鈥檚 University English Department stands in solidarity with students, student groups, and activists working to end student poverty. Our University鈥檚 Mission鈥斺渢o offer an exceptional student experience鈥 in service to an inclusive, diverse and sustainable society鈥濃攊s fundamentally compromised as student poverty erects barriers to inclusion and success. Furthermore, student poverty is counter to the very Values for which Queen鈥檚 University stands, including 鈥淩esponsibility,鈥 鈥淩espect,鈥 and 鈥淲ellbeing.鈥 The English Department is committed to working with university administrators, student leaders, and government bodies to find actionable, impactful, and sustainable solutions to this urgent problem.
