Eligibility

A 4-year Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, with a minimum B standing in the last 2 years of the program.​

Previous degree(s) can be from a wide range of disciplines, including science, engineering, business, economics, policy, and communications.​

A minimum of 3 years of work experience in natural resources. Exceptional applicants without work experience may be considered.​

Successful completion of an English facility test if your first language is not English and you have not lived in Canada for a minimum of three years, or if you did not do your undergraduate program in English in the last 12 months.​
Note: Applicants with significant, relevant employment experience without a bachelor's degree will be considered on a case-by-case basis.​

How to Apply
Step 1 - Complete Online Application
Complete your and pay the application fee.
An official transcript from each post-secondary institution you have attended. Queen’s University requires official transcripts to be mailed directly from your institution to Queen’s University in a sealed envelope. Due to COVID-19, the School of Graduate Studies has made alternative arrangements for obtaining transcripts.

You will provide contact information for two referees through the online application form. Once the application is submitted and the application fee is paid, the referees will be contacted automatically. Referees will be sent an online reference form with instructions. They will be asked to answer a series of questions and can choose to attach a reference letter. Your referees can be professional or academic.​

Those applicants whose native languages do not include English will need to earn satisfactory standing in an English Language Proficiency Test as part of the application process, and before final acceptance is granted. Accepted English tests include:

Step 2 - Email Direct to Program
A PDF or word document of your current resume sent to meerl@queensu.ca.
Write a statement of interest, no longer than one and a half pages, single-spaced and send to meerl@queensu.ca. The statement should address the following two questions:​

Why are you interested in the program? How do you think the program can benefit your career and professional goals? Why is this a good next step for you? How do you see yourself as a fit for the program?​

What you can bring to the program? How can your skills and experience benefit your fellow students in the program? How have your education, work, and life experience prepared you for the program?
Important Considerations​
It is recommended that you read the School of Graduate Studies "" for information on official transcripts and proof of English language comprehension. ​
​Your entire application package (Online Application & Fee, Transcripts, References, Statement of Interest, Resume) must be received for your application to be considered complete. Your application will only be reviewed once complete. ​
​The admissions committee may ask for clarifications through requests for additional documents or an interview. A request of this nature does not guarantee you will be admitted to the program.
