In September the Castle provided the backdrop for a short advertisement. Our apologies, as if we haven’t all heard enough about Covid testing recently, but this was an advertisement for a Covid testing company called ‘Cignpost’ who handle testing regimens for the film and media industry.
With the crew arriving overnight to be ready to go in the very small hours next day, the scene was set from dawn for what turned out to be an absolutely perfect morning for filming by a very experienced and charming crew. Our FILM 100 students set their alarms early and were able to chaperone the crew and even help out behind the scenes a little, including the very important job of wafting smoke from the machine across the moat to give the Castle a proper ethereal look for the cameras.
Zorro the horse, who travelled all the way from Wales especially for the shoot was the undoubted star of the piece, carrying a knight in shining armour to the banks of the moat, where the camera pulled out to reveal that the knight had galloped onto a film set. A film crew filming actors pretending to be film crew, while FILM 100 students helped the crew film? We might need a little lie down now.
We hope you enjoy these pictures from behind the scenes, and you can view the finished advertisement itself, which will be broadcast on ITV and Channel 4, here.
