Congratulations to Professor Una D'Elia, recent recipient of the W.J. Barnes Teaching Award for her outstanding teaching of course ARTH 120! The Barnes is student nominated and student selected. It is presented annually "to a deserving member of the Faculty of Arts and Science who has made a significant contribution to teaching."
The nomination criteria specify, "Nominees should exhibit a value of learning, good organizational skills, availability to students, enthusiasm, motivation, and maintain a good rapport with his/her class and individual students."
In her letter of congratulations to Una, Rosalyn Martin, Deputy Academics Commissioner for the Arts and Science Undergraduate Society, wrote: "The selection committee was thoroughly impressed by your teaching style, ability to keep students captivated and passion for your subject. ... We were truly blown away by the passion and heart that you put into your teaching and the entire selection committee believes that as an instructor, you uphold the excellence which the award embodies."
