The graduate students from Prof. Una D'Elia's class, ARTH 841: Moving Images: Sculptures, Ritual, and Living Traditions created a digital exhibition project has now been published.
Performing Devotion: The Ritual Uses of Sculpture from the Italian Renaissance to Today look at the role of rituals in identities and beliefs. As written by the curators: "This exhibition demonstrates both how rituals activate sculptures and how sculptures breathe life into ritual practice across generations. These moving sculptures inspire devotion, spark controversy, instil fear, and allow devotees to access the divine."
