Running May 11-13, 2023 at the Jheronimus Bosch Art Center (JBAC) in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, Defining boundaries marks the fifth international Bosch conference organized at the JBAC (preceded by Jheronimus Bosch Revealed: The Painter and His World (2001); Jheronimus Bosch: His Sources (2007); Jheronimus Bosch: His Patrons and His Public (2012) and Jheronimus Bosch: His Life and His Work (2016)). Speaking at are Queen's Art History Ph.D. candidate Astrid Hobill -- on "Pieter Coecke as Intermediary: Inserting the link between Bosch and Bruegel" -- and alumna Marie-Eve Lafontaine (B.A. '20) -- on "Connoisseurship and attribution: the Haywain".
Defining boundaries: Jheronimus Bosch, his workshop, and his followers is supported by the Jheronimus Bosch Art Center, the City of 鈥榮-Hertogenbosch, Het huis van Bosch, and Radboud University. The JBAC is a study- and documentation centre for the works and the world of Bosch for both specialists and a more general public. The facility features a large, specialized library, including reproductions of the entire oeuvre on display in 1:1 scale.
