The Art Gallery of Ontario has donated a fascinating triptych to the Art Conservation Study Collection. Conserved in the 1930s by George Stout, a key figure in the history of Art Conservation, Lamentation with Saints and Donors has arrived at Queen鈥檚 with detailed documentation showing a history of investigation into this somewhat bewildering object.  Maria Sullivan and Erin Webster gave a wonderful paper at CAA in 2002 detailing the impact of past restoration campaigns and attempts to identify its time and place of origin, currently thought to be sixteenth century Bruges.

The object's unusual history, rich documentation, and current condition will provide endless opportunities for Art History and Art Conservation students to investigate the physical object and to interrogate the choices made by past caretakers.
