Donor Story:
Established in memory of Sylvia Marie Lodge who succumbed to aggressive stage-4 ovarian cancer six months after being diagnosed with the disease. Through support of ongoing research on ovarian cancer, the Lodge family hopes to improve the outcomes for future patients.
Annual investment income from the endowment will be directed to conduct ovarian cancer research on identifying causes of this disease, early detection and prevention, curative and palliative treatment, and clinical trials. Faculty and graduate students whose research meets one of these criteria are eligible for funding. The Sylvia Lodge Endowed Ovarian Cancer Research Fund will enrich the academic and research scholarship of Queen鈥檚 students and faculty for years to come, and may also be used to advance ovarian cancer research at other organizations with whom Queen鈥檚 collaborates, including but not limited to the Canadian Cancer Trials Group and Kingston Health Sciences Centre. Most importantly, this gift will ultimately improve patient lives.
