成人大片 Celebrates 175th in Hong Kong

Queen鈥檚 University鈥檚 175th anniversary celebrations are going international. Next stop 鈥 Hong Kong.

Alumni, academic partners, students, and prospective students in the Asia-Pacific region are invited to a series of celebrations on May 20 鈥 including a gala evening at The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong featuring Queen鈥檚 Professor Emeritus and Nobel Laureate Dr. Arthur McDonald 鈥 in honour of the university鈥檚 historic milestone.

鈥淨ueen鈥檚 has strong ties with Hong Kong. The city is home to one of our most engaged international alumni branches and many academic and research partners. I am looking forward to reconnecting with fellow alumni and friends of Queen鈥檚 in the region and continuing to build Queen鈥檚 international partnerships,鈥 says Principal Daniel Woolf, Artsci鈥80.

The day will feature several special events. In the afternoon, a convocation-style ceremony will recognize alumni amidst friends and family, and long-time Queen鈥檚 volunteer and retired Judge of the High Court Kin Kee Pang, Arts鈥70, will be presented with an honorary degree. The event will also welcome incoming students 鈥 the class of 2021 鈥 to Queen鈥檚. Following the afternoon activities, the formal evening Gala reception and dinner will feature keynote speaker Dr. McDonald, Principal Woolf, and Chancellor Jim Leech, MBA鈥73. Black tie is optional and Queen鈥檚 jackets are welcome.

The trip is also an opportunity for alumni in the Asia-Pacific region to connect with each other and with Queen鈥檚 senior leaders to help advance the university鈥檚 international aspirations.

鈥淔or some alumni, it has been decades since they have been on campus in Kingston, so the 175th celebrations are a chance to rekindle our tricolour spirit by meeting with fellow Gaels and senior university leaders, to share our experiences, perspectives and our love for Queen鈥檚,鈥 says Edmond Chan, Artsci鈥97, executive committee member of the Alumni Association鈥檚 Hong Kong Branch.
