Long-time benefactors Stu Lang, Sc’74, and Kim Lang, Artsci’75, are among the honorees at the 2024 Queen’s University Alumni Association (QUAA) Awards Gala.
This year’s festivities, which will take place on June 1 in Toronto at , will see nine individuals honoured for their important, measurable contributions to their local and global communities.
In both their professional careers and in their volunteer work, the award recipients serve as reminders of the impactful change Queen’s alumni make around the world.
“This year’s recipients have achieved greatness and contribute to a better world,” says QUAA President Colin McLeod, Artsci’10. “The QUAA Gala is an opportunity to celebrate these dedicated alumni and thank them for being true ambassadors for the university.”
The Langs, who met as students at Queen’s, are receiving the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award, the highest honour granted by the QUAA.
Together, they have an established record of inspirational leadership and excellence. The Langs have supported Queen’s University for more than 40 years, but they have also been trailblazers beyond our campus, generously giving of themselves to create opportunities and positive change across our province and country by focusing support on athletics, the arts, academics, animal welfare, and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigenization (EDII) initiatives. They have given more than $70 million to Queen’s University and the University of Guelph, a testament to their commitment to post-secondary education.
They have been instrumental supporters of the Richardson Stadium revitalization, including the Lang Pavilion, which opened last year. Their shared vision and generous philanthropy have helped provide best-in-class facilities for the university’s varsity athletes and created a transformative connection between Queen’s and the broader Kingston community.
