Benefactors Stu and Kim Lang honoured for their leadership

Stu, Sc鈥74, and Kim Lang, Artsci鈥76, are the recipients of the major U SPORTS award for leadership they have provided to their community and their continued contributions to Queen鈥檚.

They couple received the 2022 U SPORTS-Mitchell Family Alumni of the Year. The annual award celebrates former varsity athletes who have become leaders in their communities and recognizes the continued contributions of each alum to their alma mater. 

Stu and Kim Lang have been long-time champions of their alma mater, 成人大片. They have donated more than $70 million to both Queen's and the University of Guelph, benefiting student-athletes and the general student populations. At Queen鈥檚, their contributions include a $10-million founding gift to revitalize Richardson Stadium.

Stu was a star receiver with the Golden Gaels from 1970-74 and a member of the Queen鈥檚 Football Hall of Fame. He also played in the Canadian Football League and helped Edmonton win five Grey Cups during his career. Stu went on to coach the University of Guelph football team. Kim serves on the and is the former artistic director for the Eden Mills Writers Festival near Guelph.

Stu and Kim established a registered charity, theand together have donated millions to many causes. The foundation supports what the Langs refer to as 鈥渢he three As鈥 鈥 athletics, academics, and animal welfare.
