What will it mean to live in a world where AI is woven into every part of our lives? How will it shape the way we eat, travel, and power our daily routines? From building roads and bridges to transforming public infrastructure, how can AI drive innovation and create prosperity for all?

Join Queen’s researchers, students, and alumni at Studio Bell in Calgary for two evenings of conversation and curiosity around the future of innovation. From smart systems to everyday change, we’ll explore how innovation and responsibility can — and must — go hand in hand. 

What's happening

Night 1 – May 28 

  • 5:30 pm – Doors open (registration and light refreshments)
  • 6:00 pm – TED-style keynotes from leading Queen’s researchers
  • 7:00 pm – Connect with speakers and fellow alumni 

Night 2 – May 29

  • 5:30 pm – Doors open (food, drinks, and early access to Studio Bell’s exhibits)
  • 6:30–8:30 pm – Fireside chat with Queen’s researchers, alumni and students
  • 8:30–9:30 pm – More connection, conversation, and community

Speakers

Professor and Distinguished Teaching Fellow in International Business at Smith School of Business. Known for his work on global governance, ESG strategy, and sustainable development.

Dr. Warren Mabbee  

Professor and director of Queen’s School of Policy Studies. His research focuses on the interface between renewable energy policy and technologies, with particular emphasis on wood energy and biofuels. 

Civil engineering professor at Queen’s who specializes in multiple areas, including investigating the impact of climate and climate change on the severity and frequency of landslides.   

Moderator:

President and CEO of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. Her background includes experience on Wall Street and Bay Street, a chancellorship at the University of Calgary, and more than two decades as a business columnist for various media outlets.
