Dr. Cathleen Crudden is a distinguished professor at Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada, and an internationally recognized leader in the field of chemistry. Her pioneering research focuses on the development and application of carbon-metal coatings, a cutting-edge technology that has had significant impact across various industries. Dr. Crudden’s expertise lies in the formation of ultra-thin layers of organic molecules on metal surfaces, known as carbon-metal coatings, which have revolutionized material science and its practical applications.

Her groundbreaking work has led to advancements in diverse fields such as catalysis, medicine, and electronics. The real-world applications of her carbon-metal coatings include creating more durable and resistant materials in medical implants, enhancing the longevity and effectiveness of these devices in the human body. Additionally, her research has influenced the development of corrosion-resistant materials in industrial settings, particularly in the energy and transportation sectors.

Dr. Crudden’s research has garnered her numerous prestigious awards, including her election as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the Canadian Society for Chemistry’s Award for Pure or Applied Inorganic Chemistry. She is a leading voice in global collaborations, and her work is frequently highlighted in top scientific journals. Beyond her research, Dr. Crudden is known for her leadership in promoting women in STEM and her commitment to mentoring the next generation of scientists.

Her carbon-metal coating technology continues to receive international acclaim, placing Dr. Crudden at the forefront of innovation in materials chemistry. 


Dr. Hossam S. Hassanein is a prominent figure at Queen’s University, Ontario, where he serves as the Director and Professor in the School of Computing. He has been with the university since 1999 and is also the founder and director of the Queen's Telecommunications Research Lab, a hub of research focused on broadband, wireless, and network protocols. Dr. Hassanein's work primarily revolves around cutting-edge areas such as supercomputing, artificial intelligence, 5G wireless networks, edge computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Dr. Hassanein has made significant contributions to the fields of AI and computing, authoring over 600 research papers in top-tier journals and conferences, and co-authoring several books. His expertise in multi-hop wireless networks earned him the prestigious IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) Fellowship in 2017, recognizing his substantial contributions to protocols and network architecture. Dr. Hassanein's leadership in AI and supercomputing has been pivotal in advancing technological developments in these areas, particularly in the integration of AI within wireless and sensor networks, a key area of modern computational science.

Throughout his career, Dr. Hassanein has received multiple awards, including recognition for his contributions to IoT and AI advancements. His interdisciplinary work integrates AI with various computing architectures, making him a leading voice in the field of supercomputing and network management.
