The Department of Political Studies is very pleased to announce the appointment of Professors Zsuzsa Cserg艖 and Colin Farrelly as the new Sir Edward Peacock Professors, effective September 1, 2023. A Sir Edward Peacock Professorship honours outstanding contributions to the field of political science.
Zsuzsa Cserg艖 is the Sir Edward Peacock Professor of Nationalism and Democracy Studies. Prof. Csergo specializes in the study of nationalism and contemporary challenges to democracy, with particular expertise on Central and Eastern Europe.
Colin Farrelly is the Sir Edward Peacock Professor of Political Theory. Prof. Farrelly specializes in ethics and political theory/ philosophy, with a particular focus on advances in the biomedical sciences, especially 鈥済eroscience鈥 and the aspiration to modulate the rate of biological aging.
We greatly appreciate the outstanding work of John McGarry and Janet Hiebert, who were recipients of the Sir Edward Peacock Professor of Political Studies for the past five years.
