Will鈥檚 research interests focus on issues of democracy and diversity, and in particular on models of citizenship and social justice within multicultural societies. He has published eight books and over 200 articles, which have been translated into 32 languages, and has received several awards, most recently: Honorary Doctorates from the University of Copenhagen in 2013 and KU Leuven in 2014; the 2019 Gold Medal from the Social Science and Humanities Research Council; and the Royal Society of Canada鈥檚 Pierre Chauveau Medal in 2021. In 2023 Will was appointed to the Order of Canada. His books include: (OUP 1990; second edition 2002); (OUP 1995), which was awarded the Macpherson Prize by the Canadian Political Science Association and the Bunche Award by the American Political Science Association; (OUP 2007), which was awarded the North American Society for Social Philosophy鈥檚 2007 Book Award; and (OUP 2011), co-authored with Sue Donaldson, which was awarded the Canadian Philosophical Association鈥檚 Best Book Prize in 2013. Will and Sue are co-convenors of the research group at Queen鈥檚.
