The latest edition of Plan Canada (the CIP鈥檚 national professional journal) is a special issue on Smart Growth containing many contributions from Queen鈥檚 alumni and faculty:
- The issue was co-edited by Dr. Ray Tomalty, Arts鈥79, MPA鈥88, who held a post-doc at SURP in the 1990s.
- The two lead articles were by Professor Dave Gordon, MPL鈥79, on the American origins of Smart Growth and it current status in Canada.
- Natalie Pulcine, MPL鈥17, was co-author of an article on the City of Ottawa鈥檚 new 15-minute neighbourhood policies.
- Eric Aderneck, MPL鈥02, wrote the article on Industrial land and jobs;
- Rachel Barber, MPL鈥23, and Professor Maxx Hartt are co-authors on the need for 鈥淪mart Decline鈥
- Finally, Pamela Sweet, MPL鈥76, concludes the issue with reflections on whether regional planning is dead.
- The issue is further improved by photographs of Nick Kuhl, 惭笔尝鈥18, Steph Cantlay, MPL鈥23, and Alyssa Woods, Artsci 鈥21, accepting the CIP鈥檚 Emerging Planner Award, Dillon Scholarship, and Adams Scholarship. 馃槈
Professor Dave Gordon was also invited to present his Smart Growth research to CIP鈥檚 national webinar last week, with over 400 registrants from across Canada.
