Ajay Agarwal is a trained architect and urban planner from India with advanced degrees in planning from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. Since joining the SURP faculty in 2009, Dr. Agarwal has taught courses in Physical Planning and Transportation Policy. He is the driving force behind SURP鈥檚 international studio courses, leading students on hands-on planning projects in India since 2012. This innovative program earned the Innovation in International Education Award (2017).

Research Focus:
Dr. Agarwal鈥檚 research explores the intersections of sustainable development, active living, and urban transportation policy. His publications address topics such as public transit use, goods movement, transport infrastructure, and travel behaviour among Generation Y. His current work examines the transportation needs and challenges of older adult women in Canada.
