This building at the corner of Alfred and Union streets was taken over by Queen's in 1992, after 100 years of operation as an elementary school. The handsome red-brick structure was built in 1892 by the noted Kingston architect William Newlands and for many decades was the largest elementary school in the city.
Today, the school is part of Goodes Hall, home to Queen's School of Business. Many of the original interior elements of the school have been retained and co-exist with more modern facilities and services.
