Meaghan Shoemaker

Meaghan holds a PhD in Political Studies from Queen鈥檚 University and currently works with Canada鈥檚 Department of National Defence. From 2015 to 2019, she was the project lead for the Centre for International and Defence Policy鈥檚 Gender Lab. Meaghan鈥檚 work to date has focused on opportunities for improved inclusion and diversity in defence institutions and international organizations.
Meaghan has published on Canadian , and and has contributed to forums such as , and the .
Meaghan also provides training and education for national militaries, facilitating conversations with members across all ranks on the topics of emotional intelligence, mentorship, unconscious bias, microaggressions, and human rights.
Currently, along with co-editor Dr. Linna Tam-Seto, she is publishing an edited volume with McGill-Queen鈥檚 University Press focused on the gender dimension of veteran transition in Canada.
