DRAM 373  Scene Study at the Shaw Festival  Units: 3.00  
Intermediate acting course in which a variety of techniques and exercises will be used to explore selected dramatic texts drawn from the mandate of the Shaw Festival - mainly plays written during the lifetime of George Bernard Shaw (1856 to 1950).
NOTE Taught in Niagara-on-the-Lake during Summer Term. There is a lab fee for this course which includes theatre tickets. Information regarding fee and accommodation is available on the Departmental website.
Learning Hours: 113 (38 Laboratory, 75 Private Study)  
Requirements: Prerequisite Level 3 or above. Corequisite DRAM 371/3.0.

Course Learning Outcomes:

  1. Accurately and effectively interpret scripts and texts from George Bernard Shaw's canon and other plays within the Shaw Festival's mandate.
  2. Work collaboratively with peers in scene study, presentation, and duologes.
  3. Receive and offer critical feedback in response to creative work.
  4. Expand one's performance skills including attention paid to voice, physicality, and text analysis.
