Have we failed or succeeded in our duty to safeguard the most vulnerable members of our society? What has the national and global response to the pandemic taught us about our preparedness for such a virus? How will the pandemic influence our long-term strategy for healthy aging? These are some of the important questions we examined during <em>Conversations Confronting COVID-19: Aging</em>, the second session in the virtual event series.</p> </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-video-url field-type-text field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6BeqFZzWXs</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-video-thumbnail-image field-type-image field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><img typeof="foaf:Image" src="/research/sites/default/files/styles/video_thumbnail/public/assets/videos/20-0083-Discover-Research-at-Queens-VES-Video-Thumbnail-COVID19-Ageing-1200x774.jpg?itok=3_-_i3UE" width="700" height="450" alt="Discover Research@Queen&#039;s - Virtual Event Series" title="Conversations Confronting COVID-19: Aging" /></div></div></div> Wed, 29 Jul 2020 14:33:56 +0000 kvd1 21859 at /research Watch the Discussion: Conversations Confronting COVID-19: Aging /research/articles/watch-discussion-aging-long-term-care-and-covid-19 <div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">.</span></p> </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-story-type field-type-list-text field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even">Confronting COVID-19</div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-tags field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Tags:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/keyword-tags/covid-19-0" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">COVID-19</a></div><div class="field-item odd" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/keyword-tags/coronavirus-0" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">Coronavirus</a></div><div class="field-item even" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/tags/health" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">health</a></div><div class="field-item odd" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/keyword-tags/long-term-care-0" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">Long-term care</a></div><div class="field-item even" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/keyword-tags/aging" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">aging</a></div><div class="field-item odd" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/keyword-tags/seniors-0" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">Seniors</a></div><div class="field-item even" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/keyword-tags/senior-care-0" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">Senior Care</a></div><div class="field-item odd" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/keyword-tags/canada-health-act-0" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">Canada Health Act</a></div><div class="field-item even" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/keyword-tags/event-0" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">Event</a></div><div class="field-item odd" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/keyword-tags/integrated-care-0" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">Integrated Care</a></div><div class="field-item even" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/keyword-tags/healthcare" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">Healthcare</a></div><div class="field-item odd" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/keyword-tags/elderly-0" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">Elderly</a></div></div></div> Wed, 29 Jul 2020 14:24:33 +0000 kvd1 21858 at /research Crisis reflections from the front lines /research/features/crisis-reflections-front-lines <div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><div> <p>Recently, Dr. Wolfrom published a blog in the <em>Canadian Medical Association Journal</em> outlining tips for how physicians can cope in periods of stress and uncertainty. The network collects patient information stored in electronic medical records (EMR) of primary care practitioners across Canada. Using complex algorithms, CPCSSN brings the data from these different EMR systems together into a consistent format. This enables researchers to use those data to answer questions about the incidence and treatment of diabetes, hypertension, depression, chronic obstructive lung disease, osteoarthritis and other chronic diseases that Canadian family physicians commonly deal with.</p> </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-tags field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-above"><div class="field-label">Tags:&nbsp;</div><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/tags/big-data" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">big data</a></div><div class="field-item odd" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/tags/medicine" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">medicine</a></div><div class="field-item even" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/tags/public-health" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">public health</a></div><div class="field-item odd" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/tags/primary-care" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">primary care</a></div><div class="field-item even" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/tags/electronic-medical-records-emr" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">electronic medical records (EMR)</a></div><div class="field-item odd" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/tags/chronic-diseases" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">chronic diseases</a></div><div class="field-item even" rel="dc:subject"><a href="/research/tags/health-policy" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">health policy</a></div></div></div> Wed, 01 Apr 2015 19:03:17 +0000 vandusen 25 at /research
