Standard confocal versus super-resolution confocal microscopy of rat pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells. The 鈥榪uestion mark鈥� mitochondria seen at the centre of the left image is actually three separate organelles. We are characterizing the mitochondrial network of various cell types and determining how this network is related to sensing changes in oxygen levels.
