We are pleased to invite you to the launch of the book  - , the first book from the perspective of Katsi鈥檛sakwas Ellen Gabriel, who was the Kanien鈥檏eh谩:ka (Mohawk) spokesperson during the violent siege of Kanehsat脿:ke and Kahnaw脿:ke in the summer of 1990.

A conversation with Katsi鈥檛sakwas Ellen Gabriel will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 2:30pm-4:00pm (Mac-Corry B201, Queen鈥檚 University) as a feature of the book launch. It will be moderated by Isabelle St-Amand. All are welcome!

A tea with Indigenous students will also be hosted at 1pm by the Four Directions Indigenous Student Center.

Katsi鈥檛sakwas Ellen Gabriel is a Kanien鈥檏eh谩:ka, Wakeni谩hton (Turtle Clan), artist, documentarian, and Indigenous human rights and environmental rights activist living in Kanehsat脿:ke Kanien鈥檏eh谩:ka Homelands. She is a 2024-2025 Visiting Scholar at the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures of Queen鈥檚 University.

This visit takes place as part of the course LLCU 270: Contemporary Event and Indigenous Cultural Politics.
