Zhiyao Zhang

Zhiyao Zhang was born and raised in China and received his MA and PhD in Political Science at Jilin University. He taught at Jilin for a number of years and also served as the associate dean of political studies there for three years. Subsequently, he held visiting fellowships at universities in the U.S. and the U.K. before moving to Canada. He has taught at the Royal Military College of Canada and at Queen's.
Dr. Zhang received the Canadian Governor General鈥檚 Medallion for his promotion of Canadian education ties in China in October 2013; and in the year 2018, he received the 鈥淢agnolia Award鈥 from Shanghai Municipal Government as a 鈥渞ecognition of his eminent contribution to Shanghai鈥檚 development and international cooperation.鈥
His responsibilities include seeking and promoting opportunities for academic and research collaboration with universities and government offices, recruitment of undergraduate and graduate students for degree programs at Queen鈥檚, and maintaining links with Queen鈥檚 alumni.
