Many elected members of parliament have made empty promises regarding Indigenous peoples in Canada. Some of the key promises made by the Liberal government over time involve sustainable access to clean drinking water, greater food security in isolated areas, greater autonomy and control over the use of ancestral lands, greater autonomy over social governance and child services, strengthened education and childcare programs, and increased spending on Indigenous mental health and wellness strategies, among other promises...

The employment rate among Canadian working-age adults with a disability is 49 per cent compared to 79 per cent for those without a disability. There are numerous reasons why employers discriminate against PWDs when hiring. Assessment Ideas
- Position Paper: Analyze ways that companies mistake equality for equity and create a report on your findings and how to advocate changes that need to be made.
- Research Paper: Research the concept of intersectionality and its relationship to various forms of inequality. Analyze how multiple dimensions of identity (such as gender, race, class, and disability) intersect and contribute to inequality.
- Case Study Analysis: Provide students with a real-world case study that highlights a specific inequality issue or success story in reducing inequalities. Ask them to critically analyze the case study, identify key factors contributing to the inequality or success, and propose recommendations for promoting equality and reducing disparities.
- Policy Brief: Prepare a policy brief on a specific policy or intervention that aims to reduce inequalities. Analyze the policy's impact, identify any gaps or challenges, and propose recommendations for policy improvement.
- Group Presentation: Conduct an equity audit of an organization or institution. Assess the organization's policies, practices, and culture, identifying any disparities or barriers that contribute to inequality. Propose strategies and actions to promote equity and inclusivity within the organization and present your audit findings and recommendations.
- Data Analysis and Recommendations: Conduct a research analysis about crime in your community. Analyze your results and create a project plan for a local educational awareness campaign about SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions in your community.
- Communications Strategy: Develop a social justice campaign aimed at raising awareness and promoting action to reduce inequalities. Identify a specific inequality issue, develop key messages and communication materials, and outline strategies for implementing the campaign. Present your campaign plan and demonstrate your understanding of effective advocacy strategies.
