³ÉÈË´óƬ the Lecture: Growing up in the shadow of The End of History and the supposed triumph of western democracy, it seemed that liberalism was stable, inevitable and perhaps even permanent. But this declaration turned out to be premature. This lecture surveys our modern relationship to liberalism and its promise, and interrogates how the social and political institutions tasked with protecting and reinforcing liberalism have come up short.
