Monthly Brown Bag Conversations: Discussing Decolonization Series

    When:
    Wednesday, October 30, 2019
    12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
    Where:
    Mackintosh-Corry Hall
    Room: E202
    Find on Campus Map
    Description:

Topic: The risk of recolonizing: Balancing the work of decolonization so that Black, Indigenous, people of colour, mixed peoples are included but not overburdened

We’ll discuss the tricky balancing act that those involved in decolonization must play in spaces like Queen’s where white settlers are the majority. How much of the work should be done exclusively by them? How can BIPOCM people be included in a way that doesn’t overextend their limited time and energy?

Faculty, staff, and students are welcome to monthly brown bag lunches to discuss the implications of decolonization for teaching and learning. Facilitators from the CTL will guide discussion, but all participants will contribute to the direction of each meeting and the direction of the program as a whole.
