    Wen-Do Women's Self-Defence 15 hour Basic Course

    Description:

    This 15 hour course offers girls (minimum 10 years old) and women of all ages and abilities the opportunity to practice easy to learn, easy to remember physical and verbal techniques. Snacks and lunch are provided. 

    Registration is required.  Space is limited.  Open to all women in the Queen's and Kingston community. Cost is $50 (regular $150 per woman).

    Offered by the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention & Response/Human Rights & Equity Office with support from Health Promotion.

    Course runs on two days -September 5 and September 6th from 9-5 on both days.

    Included in this two day course are responses to the most common assaults on girls and women such as wrist and arm holds, choke holds, bear hugs, weapons defense, ground and bed defense and gang and swarming situations.

    Effective blocks, strikes, verbal self defense are a major component of this course. Additionally we include self defense situations related to outdoors, public transit, private vehicles, home, work and school safety.

    In an environment that recognizes and celebrates our diversity, we talk about violence against women and children breaking down the myths of who, where, why assault, harassment and abuse happens. We work to increase personal Awareness and confidence to promote Avoidance and Action.
