Dr. Joan Almost is a dedicated nursing scholar at ³ÉÈË´óƬ with over two decades of experience, and known for her contributions to nursing education, policy and research. Her program of research is centered on engaging with policy makers and knowledge users to advance the nursing profession. She authored a report sponsored by the Canadian Nurses Association entitled Regulated nursing in Canada: The landscape in 2021. The impact of this report has been extensive and is used by the Canadian Nurses Association as a foundational document in their ongoing work responding to the current shortage of regulated nurses in Canada. In this presentation she will expand on the findings of her most recent report commissioned by the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions examining the high use of private nursing agencies across Canada.
