2024 Queen鈥檚 University VPR Artist-in-Residence Rita McKeough will make a public address, reflecting on her extensive career spanning more than three decades as an artist, musician, and educator. Renowned as one of Canada鈥檚 leading media artists, McKeough is celebrated for her work in performance, installation, sound, and electronics. Her art is distinguished by its political engagement, collaborative approach, and interdisciplinary focus, addressing issues such as violence against women, human-animal relations, and ecosystem collapse.
Following the artist talk, a closing reception for McKeough's 2000 art installation Wave Over Wave will take place at the Art + Media Lab, Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts.
