    Research Collaboration with Indigenous Communities

    Description:

    This workshop is offered jointly by SGS and the ACQU and is scheduled in conjunction with the Four Directions Indigenous Research Symposium. The workshop is open to students,staff, faculty, and interested community members.

    In this workshop, you will learn about the complexities and distinct requirements of research with Indigenous community partners. The workshop has three major components:

    1. A keynote presentation by Alex McComber, Mohawk from Kahnewake Territory who has held leadership positions in the development of academic-community research collaborations in the area of Indigenous health.
    2. A panel of short presentation by students, faculty, and Indigenous community members discussing from first-hand experience the challenges and rewards of research collaboration across academic and indigenous communities, and
    3. A Talking Circle during which all participants will have an opportunity to share insights, questions, and reflections. The Talking Circle will be moderated by Janice Hill, Director of Four Directions Aboriginal Student Centre.
