Sharday Mosurinjohn,  Assistant Professor of Contemporary Religious Context

When the word “boredom” arose (~1850s), it referred to a “spiritual crisis” of meaning. Today, our concept of boredom is usually much more trivial. But what if we took boredom seriously? My idea is this: There are forms of boredom characteristic of life today that don’t just belong to any of us individually; they are part of a cultural mood marked by an overload of choices and information. Making sense of this situation can help us experience more meaning amidst the overload.
