    Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Day

    When:
    Wednesday, November 13, 2019
    9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
    Where:
    Stauffer Library
    Room: 121
    Find on Campus Map
    Description:

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) use location to link seemingly unrelated data, permitting users to explore, process and analyze large amounts of data to visualize trends, patterns and relationships. Today, GIS technologies are leveraged by businesses, government, public health professionals, historians and any discipline with operations that can be enhanced by exploring spatial patterns and sharing these stories through maps and visualizations. GIS Day provides an international forum for users of GIS technology to demonstrate the real-world applications that are making a difference in our society.

Community members and researchers are invited to come to Stauffer Library, Room 121, at Queen’s University to learn about the many applications of GIS, as well as its future. Presentations will be given by Queen’s students and faculty, as well as employees of Kingston’s municipal and provincial offices, and private-sector businesses.
