Take time to slow down and deeply observe works in the exhibition De: Frank De Sa. Guided by Agnes docents, this contemplation practice allows for relaxation and new insights.
At Deep Looking, we aim to facilitate conversations around artworks shaped by participants鈥 unique perspectives, rather than promoting a singular reading. We ask that participants come with a willingness to listen, share and collaborate.
The preposition De (鈥渙f鈥 or 鈥渇rom鈥) can verbally signify lasting ties to places and experiences of origin, even when eroded by distance and time. With his new sculptural presentation, Frank De Sa reflects on his family roots in the Portuguese Azores, his upbringing in Kingston, and the manifold ways the diasporic experience of his working-class family impacts his practice.
The docent program is generously supported by the Lloyd Carr-Harris Foundation.
