Title: Responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission鈥檚 Call to Action #92: A SHARED Future?
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission鈥檚 96 Calls to Actions, released in 2015, seek to redress the legacy of colonialism in Canada through a process of reconciliation. Call #92 to the corporate sector in Canada urging the adoption of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as a framework for reconciliation and a foundation upon which to build respectful relationships, consult with, and inform Indigenous peoples and Nations across Canada about economic development projects. In considering this Call to Action, 鈥淎 SHARED Future鈥 (short for Achieving Strength, Health, and Autonomy through Renewable Energy Development for the Future) is a five-year CIHR Team Grant that seeks to examine how intersectoral strategies and approaches may contribute to improvements in Indigenous health and health equity by preventing, mitigating, reducing and/or enhancing resilience to harmful environmental exposures and/or promoting healthful environments through renewable energy projects. At this seminar, Dr. Castleden will share her Team鈥檚 work on A SHARED Future to date.
