Eight Alumnae Among Canada鈥檚 100 Most Powerful Women

The CEO of the Canadian Cancer Society and the head of Global Corporate Banking with CIBC Capital Markets are among the eight Queen鈥檚 alumnae who made the annual list of

鈥淭he list includes women who are among the top leaders of many successful organizations,鈥 says Jeremy Mosher, Artsci鈥08, president of the Queen鈥檚 University Alumni Association. 鈥淭hese eight alumnae are proof that Queen鈥檚 is continuing its long tradition of creating Canada鈥檚 top executives and innovators. I want to congratulate these women, both on their remarkable careers and for proudly representing our university.鈥   

The list is compiled by the (WXN), an organization that develops and promotes professional women in Canada.   

Here is a look at the eight powerful alumnae:

  • Jacqueline Allard, Artsci鈥93, is the Senior Vice President of Strategy, Performance, and Marketing with RBC Personal & Commercial Banking. She serves on the board of directors of Next Canada, which supports promising young innovators, and also serves on the board of Up with Women, a not-for-profit providing career coaching and support for formerly homeless women.
  • Lynne Hudson, Sc鈥92, is president and CEO of the Canadian Cancer Society, the country鈥檚 largest charitable funder of cancer research. She oversaw the successful merger between that organization and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in February of 2017.
  • Valerie Mann, Com鈥86, is a partner at the business law firm Lawson Lundell LLP and is co-chair of the company鈥檚 mergers and acquisitions group. This is her fourth time on the most powerful list, which results in her being inducted into the WXN Hall of Fame.
  • Patricia McLeod, MBA鈥11, is chair of the board of directors of the Calgary Co-op, one of North America鈥檚 largest co-operatives, with more than 440,000 members. Ms. McLeod is a lawyer with extensive legal and governance experience in many areas, including corporate/commercial, compliance, and securities law.
  • Jacqueline Moss, Artsci鈥84, has more than 20 years of senior business leadership and serves on the board of directors of Investment Management Corporation of Ontario and Minto Apartment REIT. In 2016, she founded Giftgowns, a company that sells fun medical gowns designed to bring a smile to people in hospitals. 
  • Alexandra Nuth, MBA鈥17, is a managing director at ATB Financial, the largest Alberta-based financial institution with assets of more than $51.9 billion. Ms. Nuth leads a group responsible for starting up new digital ventures. She is also responsible for a multi-million-dollar capital expenditure budget.  
  • Susan Rimmer, Artsci鈥88, is the head of Global Corporate Banking with CIBC Capital Markets. She is responsible for CIBC鈥檚 corporate banking, cash management, and correspondent banking businesses. Before joining CIBC, she had a 15-year career in global capital markets and investment banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
  • Olivia Steedman, Sci鈥95, is a managing director at the Ontario Teachers鈥 Pension Plan. She is both a professional engineer and Chartered Professional Accountant with more than 20 years of private equity investing.

Many award winners were honoured at a gala event in Toronto on Nov. 21. 

This is the 16th year the Women鈥檚 Executive Network has compiled its most powerful list. Alumnae on the list in previous years include CBC TV Dragons鈥 Den star Michele Romanow, Sc鈥07, MBA鈥08, and NFL Chief Operating Officer Mary Ann Turcke, Sc鈥88, MBA鈥97.
