Unveiling the Kathleen Beaumont Hill Award plaque

Kathleen Beaumont Hill Award (Vancouver Branch)

Created in 2009, this award celebrates the dedication and generosity of Kathleen Beaumont Hill, BA'50, to her alma mater and community for more than 60 years.

To proudly carry Kathleen Beaumont Hill's name and spirit for future generations of remarkable Queen's alumni in British Columbia, this award will be presented biennially to the individual who best exemplifies her outstanding service, passionate advocacy, dedicated support, and contributions to the betterment of our University and our country.

Selection criteria

Nominees are reviewed based on the following criteria:

  • Is a Queen's graduate or Honorary Degree recipient.
  • Is based in Vancouver.
  • Has a history of active and outstanding contributions to the Queen's alumni community globally and in Vancouver.
  • Has significantly contributed to or impacted ³ÉÈË´óƬ's reputation through their professional and personal lives and active community involvement in Vancouver.
  • Is an active contributor, through volunteerism and/or financial support, to ³ÉÈË´óƬ and its students.
  • Is not currently employed by ³ÉÈË´óƬ (please note that any contributions made as part of a nominee's Queen's faculty or staff duties cannot be considered in the nomination for the Kathleen Beaumont Hill Award).

Nominations are considered for two consecutive biennial award cycles.

Daniel Jarvis

The award is presented to Mr. Jarvis for his long-term dedication to Queen’s, exemplary philanthropic leadership in Vancouver’s non-profit sector, and commitment to supporting the next generation of Vancouver businesses.

Daniel Jarvis studied economics at Queen’s and received his MBA from Harvard University in 1975. He continues to stay connected to Queens through friendships he made, by engaging with Queens staff and events, and by providing financial support to a number of programs, with a particular focus on students in the Economics Department.

Mr. Jarvis has contributed to the Vancouver community in a number of important ways and excels at bringing great people together to develop creative ways to build businesses. He has also served as a mentor to many entrepreneurs, and he has served on the boards of cultural, educational and tourism organizations. One of his longest and most valued associations has been with Union Gospel Mission, which works on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside to help individuals overcome poverty, homelessness, and addiction.
